In my final school year, 1987, I joined a pop group called SQUARE performing vocals and keyboards. We were covering the hits back then from Whitney Houston to Pink Floyd. The nights were long and the days short, we had great fun and I earned enough money to finance my studies.
\nI met Matthias Baumhof, the keyboarder of the group \u201cBoys and Girl\u201d with whom I created a show with hits ranging from \u201cThe bat\u201d to \u201cThe phantom of the opera\u201d.<\/p>\n

We toured as \u201cLisa&Sasse\u201d and took part in many different presentations and events. I called our program \u201ca journey through the epochs of singing\u201d, appeared in big evening gowns for operetta, on rollerblades for “starlight express<\/a>“, tap danced to \u201cI got rhythm\u201d and crawled on the floor in a cat\u2019s costume to sing \u201cMemories\u201d.<\/p>\n

Later, already engaged at the Dusseldorf opera house, I heard somebody playing Jazz on stage during a rehearsal break.
\nI found our coach Dirk Wedmann grooving on the piano and was again inspired to try something new beyond opera. Dirk taught me how to sing Jazz – as much as it was possible: a critic reckoned: \u201ca little bit of \u201eshubidu\u201c doesn\u2019t make a Ella Fitzgerald\u201d…of course not! This statement didn\u2019t prevent me from inventing a crossover evening that bridged classical music and jazz.<\/p>\n

In 2018 I met the guys from Sirius Quartet<\/a> – an avant-garde-jazz string quartet from New York and we performed some beautiful concerts<\/a> with a classic-jazz jam program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
